Nebulous Neptune

 The outer planet Neptune is back home in its sign of rulership, Pisces, for the first time in 164 years. So what you may be thinking. As an outer planet it has influence over the population and world at large. For individuals this plays out in a general attitude globally. If you have Neptune connected or anchored in a personal way in your birth chart, you will be personally effected and involved in the influence. An astrologer can determine this for you.

Neptune rules water. Pisces is a water sign. Neptune governs spirituality, not religious dogma. It is ethereal and boundless. Mists, vapours, anaesthetics, dreams, illusions, confusion and delusions, visions and escapism all fall under the Neptune spell. So do addictions, victimisation and martyrdom, sacrifice, chemicals, alcohol and illegal drugs. Boats, fish, oceans, waterways and oil are also under its rulership. Charitable, artistic and psychic ability are also connected to Neptune.

Neptune rules the 12th house. This is the realm of seclusion, isolation, institutions, illness and hospitalisation, anonymous and faceless organisations, secrets, meditation, self undoing and behind the scenes situations.

Neptune will take approximately 15years to traverse a sign. It is a slow moving planet. Therefore if it triggers a point or planet in your natal chart it will have more than just the general populace's effect.

At the present time Neptune is floating around 2 and 3 degrees Pisces. So any personal planets or points at these degrees will get the Neptune energy.

You may notice in the global news chemical warfare, carbon emissions, charitable causes eg refugee plights, pharmaceuticals, drug stories, secret deals etc are part of our global consciousness now.

Cruises, fishing shows, psychic shows, nurses and prisoners, magic illusion shows etc are popular now.

As an example of Neptune energy being personalised I'll use my chart. I am a Sun Pisces with my natal Moon and Neptune in the 12th house. So I am very familiar with the Neptune energy.

Currently Neptune is square to my natal Moon at 2 degrees in the 12th house, as stated previously. A square is a harsh aspect in astrology. The last time I had a harsh aspect from Neptune to my Moon was in 1971/72 when I was 8 & 9 yrs old. At this time I was very ill with a hard to diagnose illness. I lost 3 months from school and was rendered isolated from members of my family and friends. The doctor said I was a baffle to medical science. I would do my school work in isolation, I taught myself to play a bit on the guitar, I read a lot of books and drew. I ended up having Scarlet Fever & Glandular Fever together. I spent a lot of time between the 2 worlds of reality and Spirituality. I lived a lot in my imagination.

So it can be seen in this example that the 12th house theme of isolation and illness combined with the Neptune theme of Spirituality, artistic pursuits and confusion. The harsh aspect brought the need for action to overcome the Neptune challenges.

This time, the harsh aspect from Neptune is being made from my 4th house to my 12th house Moon. The 4th house is home, family roots, the past, ancestors, foundations and the land. Illusions and isolation are challenging me emotionally and physically in renovating my new home. Family members and my past are hindering the process. I am actively seeking help from professionals to heal myself and I am supporting the health of others also. Relying on my Spiritual beliefs and guidance is a positive use of this energy. Addictions of others is a big part of my obstacles at this time.
