My Pict...orial. Progressed Scorpio Moon in the 12th house.

Past life dreams are something that are occasionally gifted to me through Spirit. As my Progressed Moon moved into the life death & rebirth sign of Scorpio and transits my 12th house of "all that has gone before", I was recently given another vision of a previous lifetime.

These visions are distinctly different to my usual dreams. They have no discernible trace to everyday happenings nor any symbols reflecting conscious or subconscious thoughts, memories or feelings I may have. They are also different to any prophetic dreams I sometimes get. They are short mini scenes but are packed with clues that I can historically verify afterwards through my own research. This to me is the most validating aspect of my past life visions. I can't begin to tell you the sense of awe & deep knowing of truth I feel when the research trail unfolds. I have always dreamt in colour and have always had a rich dream life. In my conscious state I am a very visual type. I can see in my mind's eye colour, design, scenes & plans. I learn through sight & touch. So this medium seems tailored to me.

In this past life dream I was being guided to look at a long stone wall, punctuated with periodic turret type structures. I was told Hadrian's Wall. This was repeated in  my right ear a number of times so I would not forget. My son's name is Adrian and I was trying to adjust the word to it, hence the insistence of repeating "Hadrian's Wall" to me. There was a battle surrounding me. The time period looked medieval based on clothing. It was mountainous countryside. I was directed to look at a female who was sitting on a pillar or high pedestal that was nonetheless not ornate, but depicted a high rank. She was dressed in strange garb, earthy green tones, and had some type of symbols painted on her. She spoke in a strange language to me. She looked just like my cousin. My Father's niece. She recognised me but remained aloof as was expected of her station. The feeling within the group was one of pride, determination, warrior energy & clanship. Our group was coming southward. We were against warriors coming North. Our group felt connected like we were kin. I was then shown the sea and we were sailing past the wall. We were worried about passing the land that is England.

I began researching Hadrian's Wall. Interestingly my family on my Father's side thought we may be from Roman descent via our Scottish ancestry and our family trait of big noses. Although I have never felt an affinity for that culture. After this vision & my research, I now truly believe and feel deep inside that we are from Scottish Pict descent.

The Romans were fighting Scotland and pushing further North into Scotland from England. The Romans noted the strange tribes from the Highlands that fought ferociously against them (in my dream we were coming down from the North to the wall). They were the Picts. They were described as being family clans that had their lineage through the matriarchal line, unlike the common lineage of the patriarchs as in most other cultures. (My female cousin was the matriarch of the clan. Our family lineage is traced back through our paternal grandmother's line!)The Picts spoke an unusual language (as did my cousin to me in the dream), the Picts were noted for symbols painted/tattooed on them (my cousin had symbols on her skin), the Picts fought off Rome's legions (the battle depicted in my vision), the Picts were known as mighty sailors and the Pict navy was feared by the Romans (the symbol of us sailing on the ocean past the wall in my dream).

This is an except from Pictish Nation at halfmoon tripod:-
"It was Hadrian who decided that northern Scotland was not worth more legions, and so he pulled back the Empire to the Tyne and the Solway. There he built the famous wall which bears his name, seventy miles from sea to sea. Perhaps because of constant warfare and attacks against the wall, that Antoninus Pius advanced the frontier again to the thin Scottish neck between the Forth and Clyde. Thirty nine miles long and boasting twenty forts, it may have separated Pictish tribes on either sides of the wall. The wall was manned by the Second, Sixth and Twentieth Legions during its forty years. The Picts never ceased attacking it, and in fact the Romans lost it and regained it twice before finally giving it up by the end of the second century and retreating to Hadrian's Wall. We lean from the words of Cassius Dio that the northern tribes "crossed the wall, did a great deal of damage and killed a general and his troops."

This was symbolised in my dream when we were sailing on the ocean past the wall with many forts

My paternal grandmother's name is MARTIN.

Martin — Màrtainn. Associated with Clans Cameron and MacDonald

MacDonald — MacDhòmhnaill, Clann 'IcDhòmhniall, Na Dòmhnallaich (MacDonalds). "Son of Donald"; the largest Highland clan, who at one time controlled the entire western Scottish coast from the Butt of Lewis to the Mull of Kintyre, and also had lands in Ireland and the Isle of Man. They can trace their ancestry to Conn of the Hundred Battles, the High King of Ireland in the 1st C. Donald comes from Donald of Isley, grandson of Somerled, lord of Argyll. The Clan Alister, the MacAllisters of Loup, come from Donald. MacDomhnall, MacDonnell, Donald, Donaldson, MacDonnell, Donell. MacDonald of ClanRanald, MacDonald of Glengarry, MacDonald of the Isles, MacDonald of Staffa.

Cameron — Camshron, Na Camshronaich (Camerons). From the Gaelic cam-shron "crooked nose" or "hooked nose". There were once three branches: the MacSorleys of Glen Nevis, the MacMartins of Letterfinlay, and the MacGillonies of Strone. Through all the troubles with the England, the Camerons were loyal to the royal Stuarts. Cameron of Erracht, Cameron of Lochiel.

from the Pict Clanns of Albann-

Clann CAMERON

This clan is one of the most ancient of Highland clans, proud of their reputation of being fiercer than fierceness itself.  Sir Iain Moncreiffe, official Cameron clan historian, has traced their origins back to the kingdom of Fife and the Royal line of Macduff.  Certainly, theirs is a Fife-place name, Cam brun, Gaelic for Crooked Hill.   Moncreiffe noted the persistence of the letter B when the name appears in medieval documents, verifying cambrun is the correct originating name.  He also pointed out the similar heraldry of the Camerons and the Earls of Fife.

Letterfinlay is in the Scottish Highlands. "the crooked nose" is a feature of my paternal grandmother's line!

During the 13th and 14th centuries, the most important tribes in Lochaber were the Clan Donald, the Chattan Confederation, and the Mael-anfhaidh. Traditionally, the Mael-anfhaidh consisted of three main tribes; the MacMartins of Letterfinlay; the Macgillonies (Mac ghille-anfhaidh); and the MacSorlies of Glennevis (Sliochd Shoirle Ruaidh). The MacMartins are said to have provided the chief of this confederation of tribes. Donald Dubh Cameron, already mentioned, married the daughter of the MacMartin chief and either through this or by his own prowess assumed the leadership or captaincy of the confederation of clans which later formed the Clan Cameron.

This seems to be the link for me between the clans Martins, Camerons & Donalds.

Interestingly, after learning about Pict culture, in this lifetime there have unknowingly been comparisons to my Pict ancestry. I gave all my children my surname ie my maiden name (now my Grandson is carrying it on) , the matriarch holds the clan's lineage and directs its descendants success, the women on my patriarchal Grandmother's side are implacable fighters for family & hearth, we see ourselves as equals in all ways, our male relatives by blood also view female relatives as strong & equals, I first felt compelled to get a tattoo many decades ago, long before it was fashionable for women to do so, I chose to raise my children as a single mother, also at a time when it was still frowned upon by society, my 2 older children have actively avoided having their natural fathers in their lives without feeling any lack, I have been viewed & told by males that I am a formidable opponent, my daughter married a descendant of clan Ranald (she too is the matriach of her family & the future matriarch of our tribe, just ask her siblings & cousins lol), one of my son's fathers is from clan McDonald, I named my sons Adrian & Lachlan. My paternal Grandmother named her 3 boys, Donald, Richard & Douglas. I am 5th generation Australian btw.

I have further researched my paternal Grandmother's lineage and discovered that my Great Great Grandfather, Alexander Martin, married Catherine Murray. An excerpt from houseofnames.com

"Murray was first used as a surname by descendants of the Pictish people of ancient Scotland."

Clann MURRAY

The usurpation of the Scottish throne by Malcom Canmore's sons by his second wife, the  English Queen Margaret, was for a long time resisted in the north of Scotland.  Her youngest son, David, gave feudal powers in the (eventually) conquered Pict district of Moray to Lord Freskin, son of Ollec, a descendent of the ancient Pict Mormaers of Moray, whose grandson assumed the name of William of Moray (Pict translation is Moireahh, meaning men of the sea, later Anglicized to Murray).
This family  was to become the most powerful by far of all Pict clans in existence.  Two of its members actually ruled Scotland as Regents (one who rules when the actual ruler is unfit or absent).  Successive Norman Kings indulged in ethnic cleansing of the north of Scotland and removed many lower echelon families in favour of Anglo-Normans, but the Murrays were above all that.  Freskin had been a loyal supporter of the Scottish Monarchy, and therefore his descendants were favoured with generous grants of land.   The old Pict province of Moray was the mot powerful of all its kingdoms, and its king automatically inherited the throne of all Albann.

His son, Andrew Murray, captured the castles of Urquhart and Aberdeen from the English, and gradually extended his conquests south until he joined forces with William Wallace.  In 1297, the two resistance leaders defeated the English at Stirling Bridge.
The present chiefs of the clan Murray are the Dukes of Atholl, and they command the only private army still allowed in Scotland..

As another interesting fact, my great grandfather, Thomas Martin, fought in the Boer War. This is recorded for posterity in parliament record due to his local shire wanting to preserve it due to the historical significance.
